Q: Are bed linens/towels provided?

A: These are not provided as standard. Bed linens can be booked for €8 per single bed and €16 per double bed. Towel sets can be booked for €6 each.

Q: Is there an optional final cleaning service?

A: Yes, choose this option during your booking or in person upon arrival. Prices: Gîte “La Vallée” for €35, Gîte “La Terre” for €45.

Q: Are the houses equipped with WIFI?

A: Yes, there is well-functioning WIFI available.

Q: Is firewood available?

A: Yes, for the gîte La Terre we offer firewood based on the volume used: €50 per $m^3$

Q: Is there a charging point for an electric car?

A: Yes, an outdoor power outlet is available.

Q: What to do in case of an emergency (for humans and animals)?

A: Emergency numbers and the alarm line are posted in each house. You can also reach us day and night so that we can assist you.

Q: Is the tap water drinkable?

A: Yes, the tap water comes from springs beneath the mountains and is healthy and very tasty.

Q: Are the houses accessible for people with mobility issues?

A: The gîte La Terre is easy to enter for people with mobility issues. To enter the gîte La Vallée, there are two steps of 10cm.

Q: Do the houses offer facilities for (small) children?

A: Both houses include a crib, high chair, playpen, and baby bath. There are also indoor and outdoor games available. The gîte La Terre has its own playroom with a ping-pong table, foosball table, and a play corner for the little ones.

Q: Where is the nearest supermarket?

A: A large supermarket is located 19 km away (Bort-les-Orgues). In Bagnols (9 km) you will find shops for smaller groceries.

Q: Where can I find organic and direct-from-the-farmer products?

A: On-site and towards the village of Cros, located 5 km further away.

Q: Can we eat somewhere immediately upon arrival?

A: Yes, in Lanobre, Bagnols, Bort les Orgues, and Champs sur Tarentaine.

Q: What is the best period for autumn colors or to look for wildflowers and mushrooms?

A: Wildflowers are plentiful from mid-May; autumn colors are best in October/early November. Mushrooms can be found depending on the species and the weather. The easiest species to find grow in September and October.

Q: What is the best period to spot wildlife?

A: Wildlife can be seen throughout the year. The rutting of the red deer takes place in September/October and can sometimes even be seen from the balconies.

Q: What is the hiking level in the area?

A: There is something for everyone. From an accessible (forest) walk to more challenging hikes with elevation changes.

Q: Are the volcanoes difficult to climb?

A: Climbing the volcanic massif offers a wide variety of challenges, making it accessible for every hiker. The top of the Puy de Dôme itself is accessible by a little train. At the Puy de Sancy (the highest point), there is a cable car that takes you almost all the way to the top.

Q: What to do in case of bad weather?

A: There are many activities for bad weather, such as castles, the ‘Vulcania’ volcano park, various museums, escape games, spring water thermal baths, and massage salons. Both houses have a TV and a DVD player. There are also indoor and outdoor games available. The gîte La Terre has its own playroom with a ping-pong table, foosball table, and a play corner for the little ones. And each house contains an extensive library.

Q: What are the costs for bringing a dog/pet?

A: Pets stay for €1.50 per day.

Q: Are multiple dogs/pets allowed to come along?

A: A maximum of two dogs/pets per booking; larger numbers are welcome upon consultation.

Q: Are there other free-roaming animals on the grounds?

A: The houses have a large fenced garden where your dog has complete peace. Beyond that, it is still very quiet, but you may occasionally encounter another dog, cat, sheep, chicken, cow, or free-roaming wildlife.

Q: Can my dog roam off-leash everywhere?

A: Yes, certainly! When passing other animals such as wildlife, livestock, or another dog from the neighborhood, it can be helpful to leash your dog as a precaution.

Q: Should I bring my own dog bed or food bowl?

A: Dog beds and food bowls are not provided due to hygiene reasons; it is best to bring your own.
